CURE Childhood Cancer is thrilled to introduce our new Director, Patient & Family Services. Lizzy Horton joins us after working the past 5 years as the Executive Director of the Front Porch, a nonprofit dedicated to working with grieving children and families. Lizzy also served for three years as a contract bereavement counselor for Camp Sunshine. Lizzy has also worked for Gilda’s Club Nashville and for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day.
Lizzy’s dedication to helping people who are dealing with cancer was born out of personal experience. In 1993, two months after her diagnosis, Lizzy’s mother died from pancreatic cancer. This personal tragedy has guided Lizzy professionally, fueling her desire to help in the fight against cancer.
Lizzy received a B.A. in Sociology from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia and then a Masters degree (with honors) in Human Development and Counseling from Vanderbilt University. She is dually certified as a mental health and school counselor.
Lizzy’s role at CURE will be to direct all patient and family support programs. She will determine the strategic direction of these programs and lead her team to implement and execute our support efforts.
Lizzy can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770.986.0035 ext. 25.
