CURE Launches Open Arms At Lunch

CURE Childhood Cancer is pleased to announce a new initiative called Open Arms at Lunch.  Built upon our Thursday evening Open Arms dinners, Open Arms at Lunch offers CURE volunteers, companies and groups an opportunity to provide and serve lunch to hospitalized children with cancer and their families.    For decades, our Open Arms dinners have been a staple at both the Scottish Rite and Egleston campuses of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Our dedicated volunteers bring a sense of home each week to the patients and their families when they serve meals in the Family Rooms of the inpatient cancer units at both campuses.  The needs of our families have led us to expand our Open Arms outreach to patients and families by adding a monthly lunch at both Scottish Rite and Egleston.  The lunches occur on Wednesdays, with set up beginning at 11:30 am and lunch lasting until 12:45 pm.  Up to 6 volunteers can participate each month. We are looking for food donors and/or sponsors who will cover the $300-$400 cost of feeding 100 patients and family member each month and volunteers to staff the program.  This is a great opportunity for companies to give back to the community in a substantial way at a small cost.

If your company, organization or group is interested in sponsoring an Open Arms at Lunch, please email or call Meri Long, Director of Patient and Family Services, at meri@curechildhoodcancer.org or 770.986.0035 ext. 23.
